BenchSights SaaS Metrics is a benchmarking application and data platform that lets SaaS companies compute their operational and financial metrics on a quarterly basis and compare them with their peers.
Our benchmarks are derived from aggregated, anonymized metrics from members as well as 80+ public SaaS companies.
In contrast with annual surveys, BenchSights provides: 1) an interactive UI/UX (e.g., live waterfall); 2) instant access to the benchmarks; 3) always up-to-date benchmarks; and 4) customizable cuts of the data.
Companies join either by invitation and/or contract through their investors, ISV partners or through a quick & easy application process, to ensure quality of our data. New users anonymously provide basic information, such as bookings, sales & marketing, and gross margins, to derive their core metrics and immediately get access to the benchmarks and filters.
Users can check back in at any time to see how the metrics evolve. Each quarter, public company metrics will be updated, and we’ll encourage users to come back, update their metrics and see how the benchmarks change during the year.
We offer two tiers of service. Basic Access, which is free, provides views into all the benchmarks along with two filters. Our Pro Tier offers dozens of additional views and cuts of the data, many more filters and easy downloads of Board quality slides.
We regularly check the data for outliers and filter them out. We also have a mechanism to email members anonymously, using codenames allowing us to do quality control without compromising our anonymity promise.
Medians are the preferred way to benchmark because averages can be easily thrown off by a few outliers. In cases where there are no outliers, medians are usually very close to averages.
Our system NEVER STORES users’ data with their identity. Instead, upon initial registration, users are provided a BenchSights codename – the only identifier throughout our database.
No. We employ “minimum aggregation” rules – meaning benchmarks are only displayed for a requested metric/filter combination when a minimum number of members to the requested group exists. If a filter category includes fewer than 5 participants, the corresponding data is not shown.
